taken from somewhere

"And I've asked myself the same question over and over again too, especially whenever I face a breakup. Excatly what I want in a partner? Up till now, I still don't have an answer... Perhaps people get restricted by their own desires, and strike out amazing people who don't have exactly all the qualities that one has listed. I don't want that to happen. If your partner falls short of your expectations, wouldn't you feel dejected and you'll think that there's a better one out there? Then comes the whole cycle of searching, loving and breaking up. Is there really the right one out there for you? I don't know. But in any case, I tell myself that if I find someone special, I'll grab the opportunity and give fate a shot. He needs not be perfect, because I've learn that true love is loving all the imperfections. Love isn't finding a perfect person. It's seeing an imperfect person perfectly. Because he's there, my life would be perfect. :D We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love. You might never know, your ideal partner is one that you least expect him to be. You might just be the one for me...:) I've been asked the reason for loving my boyfriend when I'm in a relationship. I've always get stumped by the question. I guess there's no reason for loving someone, becaue at that moment when I look into his eyes, I would have been completely mesmerized. Then why would someone love me? I have really nothing much to offer. All I have are these arms to enfold you, and a love even time can't destroy. :D I guess I want someone to fall for who I am as a person instead of what I am physically."

this is for that someone out there.

Biennale #100

Artist: CK
Description: Titled On top of the world,Artist CK is trying to recreate the feeling of being on top of the world and jumping around like a Trash Rocker. A glimpse of perhaps... a piece of his dream. The blurry images show how he cannot hold the camera still while making the art piece. He continues to show us that he cannot do shit right.

BIENNALE Installation #99
Artist: CK
Description: Born in NUS, Singapore. Overwhelmed by random art pieces in Biennale that he cannot understand, Artist CK is confused. Instead of trying hard to make art pieces, the idiot loiters around the void deck staring into empty space. Following is an attempt to give us a glimpse of how the world appears to him.

MU 8989 Lecture 01

Good Evening students, this is your lecturer for the make-up module speaking. In this series of lectures, we will find out more about the techniques of proper, professional make-up application as well as be introduced to the best products on the market for every budget range.

Today for the first lesson, before we go into all the technicalities of the subject, we shall learn....

HOW TO CONCEAL DARK EYE CIRCLES

Yes, these dark panda-like rings that appear below your eyes when, like all my friends, sleep is not in your dictionary. Do not mistake them for the rubbish I have under my eyes - Those are hereditary. But there's a way to conceal them anyway.

So, to conceal Dark Eye Circles due to fatigue/illness/anorexia in the 21st century

Tools:
1. Colour Corrector

2. Concealer Brush

3. Foundation

(I recommend Chanel Vitalumiere, as it nourishes skin while providing an even skin tone. Makes your face feel smoother and is non-drying)

Procedure:

1. Apply the PINK corrector to the dark dark lines using the concealer brush. Please only apply to the HOLLOW of the eyebags, and not the puffy parts, as the pink will draw the hollow forward, levelling the eye area. DO NOT use concealer for this step, the pink gives a much much better effect while concealer would just look cakey.

2. With your fingers (since they afford the greatest control), pat a little foundation over the pink areas, being sure to blend properly, until the pink is indistinct.

3. TADAH!!! no more eyebags. I guarantee.

Paiseh damn longwinded. But be sure to look forward to the next lecture: Makeup Brushes.

centennial post

i cant miss out on this opportunity to be the 100th post.

here's a website i found which u can use for your design grp essay if u havent find a designer.

http://www.designboom.com/interviews.html

most of them are architects / designers / ID ppl.

nw who says pvccutter is all abt play and no work. hmph.

Ideas and Approaches 1111

since Ck has his own module.
i will start my own too.
its 1111. well. cos my bday is 1111. pls remember.
anyway. my module is basically on design
and ESPECIALLY CAR DESIGN.
like it or not.
i may suggest everyone can start a "module"
like zhuping can do on fashion or something, then maybe the blog wont be so zzz.

anyway..for my first lesson.
i will define what is really daft design and following that, absurd advertising:

now, after launching the Mercedes C Class late last year or something, Merc would naturally follow up with a Coupe version.
now for those who didn't know, these were the old models (the old C Class and the C Class Coupe below):

here is the 2008 model of the C Class:

following which... they deliberated on possible coupe versions (quite nice right, good potential!):

and now...*drumroll* here is the design the GENIUSES at Merc went with (now known as the CLC):

did someone say "hideous". i mean, the old model of the coupe was already bad enough, so they had a chance to fix it, and they basically made the old model with the newer-styled lights.

and now, here is the most ridiculous and shameless ad ive ever seen. in today's papers:

listen you Merc designers. hire me.
and listen you ad people - in my dreams, i definitely dont drive a Merc CLC, only in my nightmares.

THEREFORE, the lesson is pretty straightforward.
when designing, choose the best design for production and not the worst.
thanks! and see you soon for another 1111 lesson!

things we can do with a macbook :)

self explainatory. make ur own story.

Photog 1011 Assigment 01

Panorama

and so All workshops come with Assignments.
First assignment.
PANORAMA Shoots!

Landscape photos.
by stitching together many pieces of photographs together using PHOTOSHOP
or there are other programs available that perform similar functions.

Steps to getting a good panorama photo.

Rich Artas People - Get a freaking ultra wide lens to attach to your DSLR.
Tokina 11-16mm for instance.
shoot at the widest - meaning 11mm.
as all wide photos come with distortion at the sides.
crop off the excess to get your photo.

NORMAL people - Shoot from Left to Right(or right to left...whatever)
Note: it is good to shoot one additional shot with your finger pointing "ONE" in the photo to indicate the start... and maybe "6, or 7" for the end of your panorama.

okay panoramas are BEST shot with a tripod.
No tripod - find a support! - railing or wall or parapet.

Shoot with each photo OVERLAPPING the previous one by ~ 40-50%
this is so that the photoshop can recognise where each photo should be placed.
then the important part!
MAKE SURE all your shots have the same exposure.
this photo i took was when i was learning. and it has
multiple different exposure as you can see.
although it looks kinda cool but still
it is a NOOB PIECE.

so look for this thing called AE Lock on your DSLR.
or on compact camera... i am not sure.
i believe you have to set the camera to FULL MANUAL then keep the
exposure same throughout your panorama attempt.

for photoshop users.
go to File>Automate>Photomerge
Select all your photos that are to be made into one.

VoilA! Panorama photo!

i wish to see panorama shots uploaded on the blog by next Thursday for Critique!
Mounted on an A1 piece of paper.
with 40cmx40cm border

the mac haters

there will be 4 macbook pros in the group very soon...

BUT this is about the macbook air...

what i don't get is this.. did this guy do his research?? or what this just purely for comedic purposes?? if it was.. whoa this guy must be damn fricking rich!!! probably not very highly educated though..

some art class now

when we played with shadows the other day at chimes it reminds me of this grp called the Pilobolus.

Cocky Bastard - ME Presenting to you Photography 1011

And so i was thinking about what everyone is complaining...
that our blog is full of nonsense and no useful information
HERE let me present to you my secret to photography!
i believe i can safely say that I CAN teach what our so called"Guest photography teacher" is trying to teach us in BASIC photography.
in actual fact... there is not much of a "Advanced" photography per se
But just what i like to call it... "EYES" to see things that nobody thought they will notice.

there are some basic basic stuff i am going to explain in super layman terms.
first there is the only 4 things that you will have to note EVERYTIME you take a photo.
aperture. -- hole to let light in
shutter. -- time you open that hole
exposure. -- therefore how bright is your picture.
ISO -- how sensitive your camera sensor or film to light
(in this case i do not take exposure as a variable because there is AUTO METERING! and so i believe it is redundant to bother yourself with one more variable. MOST DSLR metering work well enough to save you ALL your trouble)

so what does the hole do for you?

BIG hole = Little area sharp
Small hole = Most area sharp

Shutter speed is like that.WHY?

And so you imagine your sensor like a towel.
and at the same time imagine light is water.
you want your towel damp enough to wipe the table
BUT not so wet such that it starts dripping.
and so if the hole to let in water is big of cause you close it fast
(so that the towel dont get too wet!)
and if the hole is small... you let it open for a little while more
(BUT do realise you only want your towel wet... not your hand. so you dont move around else the water will wet your hand! - Like how the images will have CAMERA SHAKE as the shutter is open and you move... the sensor takes in alot of mess!)

Effects.

at this point of time i shall introduce a term called
BOKEH!
this is an effect causing background blur and fuzzy but your intended object sharp as knife. THIS IS CREATIVITY.
NOTE! Camera shake IS NOT CREATIVITY as much as you want to bullshit your way through... it is not hard to deduce if it was intentional or not - experience tells it all.

and so how do you get that BOKEH? look at "What does the hole do for you"
And so when is it useful? - PORTRAIT SHOTS - when taking shots of models. TO ISOLATE YOUR INTENDED SUBJECT - so this is the main subject? WHEN BACKGROUND IS JUST PLANE SUCKY! - Blur it. DUH!

and so Architecture and Landscape shots... use WHAT APERTURE? Landscape and buildings take up alot of space and so look at " what does the hole do for you"
you want everything sharp and bright.

and so here is the most important part
PUT YOUR DSLR CAMERA OR DIGITAL CAMERA IF THERE IS SUCH A FUNCTION
TO:

Av - APERTURE priority (you control aperture and iso.Period.)
Tv - SHUTTER priority (you control Shutter speed and iso. Period.)

And so what is ISO you ask?
imagine it as how water absorbent your towel is. LOW ISO means need more time to soak wet. High iso = Faster!
NOTE! this is what affects ALL images:
HIGH ISO = Digital noise, in film will produce GRAINY photos.
Low ISO = BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS!

and so.. you compromise speed for quality.
or you compromise quality for speed?
YOUR CALL! PHOTOGRAPHER!

After all these... knn you realise your shot is too dark.. or too bright from the preview...
you adjust the EV Value button this is the compensation. + and you get brighter photo. - and you get darker photo.
There! Exposure fixed!

ALL 4 Covered!

it is getting so friggin long.
I shall end with one Secret Composition technique i believe is in the following lessons in school.IT IS THE KEY TO ALL BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS! so teach everyone first.(only if you are interested enough to read till here)
its call the RULE OF THIRD

i managed to sneak a few photos from other websites to explain.
picture speaks for itself hor?
PUT YOUR PICTURE ONTO THE FOUR SPOTS CIRCLED IN RED
everytime you shoot.

and there you have freakin CHIO PHOTOS to go all the way.
these are what you SHOULD KNOW before you can even improve.
and so After this... you just got to shoot...
shoot...
shoot...
until a point where you realise you kinda shot everything that every photographer had shot
THEN FROM THAT POINT ON... YOUR EXPLORATION INTO PHOTOGRAPHY STARTS.
Your ability to spot things people will never see....
Your ability to spot moments where you have to shoot in split seconds to get what you wanted in the photo.

So this is a little lamp in on little corner of the a bridge(sorry cant remember which) to end my Lesson

hope everyone benefit!
Be a Photographer!
it opens eyes!
